About ADAVIC
[About] [ADAVIC Team] [History]
The Anxiety Disorders Association of Victoria is a not-for-profit, self-funded organisation. Beginning as a support group in 1994, we became an incorporated organisation in 1999 [ABN 70 607 186 815]. ADAVIC is a tax-exempt, charitable organisation.
We are maintained with a team of dedicated volunteers and a few casual staff. We aim to give support and encouragement to individuals suffering from anxiety and mood disorders. We aim to:
- Reassure people that they are not alone in their distress and that assistance is available
- Provide a friendly and supportive environment where people can share their feelings and experiences with fellow sufferers
- Challenge and encourage people to overcome their fears by providing support group meetings and group activities
- Provide low cost courses and workshops that deal with a variety of issues for anxiety sufferers, such as: Bev Aisbett's 'WORKING WITH IT' Weekend workshop.
- Organise regular Lectures by guest speakers, providing information on the different therapies and treatments that are currently available.
- Promote awareness, and destigmatise anxiety disorders in the general community.
