I am a registered psychologist experienced in helping people suffering with anxiety and depression. It's becoming increasingly accepted that anxiety and depression is far more common than was previously thought - and some believe the number of people suffering from these conditions is on the increase. The good news is that anxiety and depression are treatable and positive change is possible.

However, finding the right psychologist is not always easy, especially for someone struggling with anxiety and/or depression. Not all psychologists are the same. Just like any other profession, psychologists come from different backgrounds, have different personalities, experiences and beliefs and they operate from different theoretical frameworks. It is often advisable to 'shop around' in order that you can make an informed choice as to what kind of psychologist and what kind of treatment will best suit you.

My preferred approach is a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and a 'humanistic' style of counselling that focuses on individual uniqueness in a non-judgemental way. I aim to promote understanding and acceptance of emotions, feelings and reactions and their connection to our sometimes automatic thought processes. It's a supportive and practical therapy that assists people to attain greater control over their direction, enabling them to overcome internal and external obstacles and to move forward productively, effectively and positively.

The counselling sessions are conducted in rooms that are private, safe and comfortable. Fees are negotiable depending on individual circumstances and in many cases private health fund rebates apply.

Feel free to phone or email me to discuss your situation. Alternatively you are welcome to make a single appointment and decide from there.
