Therapeutic Techniques Used:

Dr. Lisa Meehan commenced her career working in a private clinic offering individual and group therapy to marginalised community groups. She followed this with a return to study to complete her Clinical Doctorate and during this time worked predominately in public mental health, including both chronic and acute services. Her public health work included time at Austin Health where Dr. Meehan worked from a health psychology perspective assisting patients with adjustment to physical illness. During her time at Austin Health she was also responsible for the facilitation of the staff counselling service across both the Austin Hospital and Repatriation Hospital Campuses. Dr. Meehan’s Doctorate thesis was in the area of eating disorders and she maintains a strong interest in this area in her clinical work; consequently she has worked with the Western Hospital’s Obesity Service providing psychological assistance to the community’s chronically obese. She is also a member of the referral network of the Eating Disorders Foundation of Victoria.

A staunch believer of continuing education Dr. Meehan regularly attends conferences and workshops to ensure she remains up to date with the latest in psychological research and treatment. She is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society and the Australian Association of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Since commencing private practice, Dr. Meehan has focused predominately on providing patients with a first class psychological service and enhancing the awareness of psychological health within the local area. Dr. Meehan is committed to her industry and endeavours to offer a supportive, collaborative, and informed service. Although she is skilled in a wide variety of issues, as a private practitioner she is particularly interested in anxiety disorders, depression, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, eating disorders, body image and weight concerns.
